Namibia | Namibia is located in southwest Africa. It is a large and mainly arid country sharing borders with Angola to the north, Botswana to the east and South Africa to the south.
Wedged between the Kalahari and the South Atlantic, Namibia boasts deserts, seascapes and contrasting landscapes that never fail to enthrall its visitors. The desolate Namib Desert is said to be the oldest in the world, with its high dunes and awe-inspiring sense of space. The population density is one of the lowest in the world at less than 3 people per square mile.
The country is beautiful and blessed with rich natural resources, a solid modern infrastructure, diverse cultures and 300 days of sunshine a year.

Fish River Canyon
| View Map | Reputedly the second largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon in U.S.A., the Fish River Canyon is absolutely magnificent and breathtaking. It probably formed around 500 million years ago through the collapse of the valley bottom due to movements in the earth's crust. The Fish River itself is the longest interior river in Namibia. It once carries an immense volume of water compared to its current state; dry, stony and sparsely covered with hardy drought resistant plants.
| | Namib-Naukluft National Park
| View Map | Believed to be Earth’s oldest desert, the Namib-Naukluft National Park is the largest game park in Africa. This hyper-arid region is home to a surprising collection of creatures such as snakes, geckos, unusual insects, hyenas, gemsboks and jackals. It also has some of the tallest sand dunes in the world rising almost 1000 feet in some places.
| | Sossusvlei
| View Map | Sossusvlei, the highlight of any trip to Namibia, is a clay pan within the Namib-Naukluft National Park enclosed by some of the highest dunes in the world. It is a mud pan created by a river that flows through the Namib every 5 to 10 years. The best time to view Sossusvlei is at sunrise when the colors are vivid and constantly changing, allowing for wonderful photographic opportunities.
| | Spitzkoppe
| View Map | The Spitzkoppe, known as the ‘Matterhorn of Namibia’, is a group of 700 million-year-old granite peaks that can be spotted from miles in the endless dry plains of the Namib Desert. It is not the highest mountain in Namibia but is one of the most well-known. Examples of Bushmen artwork can be seen painted on the rocks in the area.
| | Swakopmund
| View Map | Namibia’s premier holiday resort, Swakopmund began as a small German village and seems to be frozen in time with its colonial architecture and relaxed lifestyle. Although surrounded on three sides by the Namib Desert, it enjoys a temperate climate thanks to the cooling effect of the Atlantic coast on one side. The city offers coffee shops, night clubs, bars and hotels as well as activities such as balloon rides, sky diving, quad biking, sand boarding, dune carting, deep sea fishing and much more.
| | Tropic of Capricorn
| View Map | Along with the Equator and Tropic of Cancer in the north, the Tropic of Capricorn is one of the three most significant imaginary lines that circle the globe. It marks the most southerly latitude at which the sun can appear directly overhead at noon.
